so today's blogger challenge is 'nail art/your favourite polish and your nail varnish collection.' i'm definitely not a nail art kind of girl, as although it looks fun it never lasts long on my nails which are always in really poor condition from washing things up, washing my hands a lot, and getting art materials all over them! i take hair/skin/nail tablets and eat healthily, so i must just put them through hell as they always peel and look a bit horrible so i keep them short. my best friend got gels not long ago for her new job, and i wanted them so badly but i realised that there's no point having nice nails when they're always going to be covered in paint! if i get some hours at my job over the summer i may treat myself though.
i'm at my uni house at the moment so this isn't my full collection, but i think all the other ones at home i don't really use any more, apart from a bright orange by missguided and an avon varnishes in pastel blue and lilac - these colours i particularly love but tend to use when the weather is warm. in all honesty though, i mainly tend to wear black on my nails, although at the moment i've got on gypsy night by topshop (black with subtle multicoloured sparkles) and later i'll probably use the silver glitter by barry m for the sparkle party!
it looks like i'm a massive fan of glitter here, but i'm like a magpie, collecting them and rarely using them! the missguided one i got free with cosmo. mainly i use colours that have a shiny finish but no shimmer, i really don't like shimmer or metallic effect nail varnishes. the only exceptions to this rule are the metallic lilac polish by topshop (eyes of steel) and the silver nail effects by barry m (which in all honesty i bought because i thought it was a crackle, the packaging is kind of deceiving, but i do like the effect, particularly with the silver glitter over it!) in case you can't tell, the red varnish by barry m and the accessorize bronze-coloured bottle are VERY glittery, i tend to use the red at christmas time and the bronze in the summer on my toes!
i do also really like nail wraps on my feet over the summer (i use my hands too much to bother putting the wraps on, i think they'd come off almost straight away.) i've used them before in both silver and gold mirror-effect, and i love them because they make me actually like how my feet look. however, i tried to take a photo with an arty effect and put it on tumblr to show off my pretty toes. this was a bad mistake as a lot of people took a little too much interest in the photo in a way i hadn't even thought about, but live and learn! i'll post pictures here anyway, as i'm sure anyone reading this blog only has an interest in the nail wraps haha!
the infamous 'arty' photo above, with my silver nail wraps, and in gold below with my favourite ankle bracelets by accessorize that i bought last year (the ones in store this year just aren't as nice, i was hoping to stock up but there's none i particularly love!)
what are your favourite nail varnishes? how big is your collection?
love,
h xxx

I love "essence". The brand adresses teenagers with a little buget and it has tons of awesome colours. The bottles are nice and small, cost little and dry very quickly. Just have to go and check how man bottles of nail polish I own... 25 :-D

yay! i've just realise, 5 of them were free from a magazine, i didn't buy a single one of those nails inc polishes! xxx
DeleteYou've got a good collection! I'm a big fan of Barry M, but have been admiring the Topshop ones online. I also got a missguided one free with cosmo, but mine's pale pink. Water and dirt really do mess nails up- i had the same problem for years. And you're not the first person I've heard of having 'problems' with blog photos on Tumblr... quite worrying, really! But the nail wraps do look good on your feet!
ReplyDeletethanks very much! <3 yeah it was a bit concerning haha but what can you do, i guess? and the topshop ones are lovely yeah, i got two of them (gypsy night and the khaki one) in a set of three that i ordered, there was also a metallic silver one in the pack but that must be at home since i already have a silver one here. i like the packs of them as it makes them slightly better value xxx
DeleteI cant keep up with the challenge because of last week at uni, but I will post all the days next week!
